Summary (taken from the book):
When Nora and Patch are forced together as lab partners, Nora would rather fall to her death than put up with his elusive answers to her questions, his teasing, and his infuriatingly handsome face and hypnotizing eyes. It seems Patch was put on earth just to drive her crazy. But before long, Nora's defenses start to break down as her curiosity about Patch heats up. Why does he always seem to be wherever she is and know exactly what she's thinking? How does he know what to say to both attract and repulse her? And what is up with those V-shaped scars on his chiseled back? As their connection grows stronger, Nora's own life becomes increasingly fragile. Nora needs to decide: is Patch the one who wants to do her harm or the one who will keep her safe? Has she fallen for one of the fallen?
My Review:
Reading this book has been like watching a movie. You know, one of those movies not horror enough to scare you but thrilling enough to make you jump off your seat.
To be honest I wasn't particularly interested in the book (I don't like angels almost as much as I dislike fairies), although I thought the cover was really cool. Then my sweet friend Ann gifted it to me and let me tell you, I couldn't have been more wrong!
New thing to learn: angels can be evil, especially the fallen kind. This book was kinda tricky, you couldn't guess who the bad guy was until almost the end of it, which is good, you know. I don't like when you already know who's good and who's bad right from the start.
Nora & Patch's relationship was kinda weird, but probably because I couldn't figure him out until the second half of the book.
One character I didn't like at all is Vee. I don't know if it's just me, but lately all the female main characters' best friends are always half-bitches: they get the heroine into trouble all the time, they say things to put her in an uncomfortable situation... I don't know, it's kinda boring.
I really, really, REALLY loved this book and I can't wait to read Crescendo!

ReplyDeleteI just bought this one because I keep hearing that it's good. Thanks for the review; now I want to get to it sooner rather than later!
ReplyDeleteMary, A Book A Day
I agree about the whole bitchy best friend phenom. What happened to having friends who are supportive and challenge you and always have your back? I guess I'm just old fashioned... lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked this book!!
